When children are young it can be helpful to provide a quiet activity during portions of the worship service. It’s important to choose wisely, looking to develop their attention span and not distract them or other worshippers.
We looked for simple books that would hold their attention without needing to be read aloud. When we found one we tucked it into our Church Bag to be enjoyed only during corporate worship. This kept the experience fresh and engaging.
Pat the Bunny is a good example. The illustrations are simple and the opportunity to touch various surfaces can hold a child’s physical attention without disrupting their ability to hear what’s happening around them.
Pat is one of our favorites.
May the LORD grant you wisdom as you nurture the next generation for Christ.
with joy in the journey,
